Opting for mediation encourages all the participants to sit around a table and talk. It creates an understanding between the injured employee and his or her employer. It allows for solutions to be created that won't destroy the trust between participants. It saves time, money, and, perhaps most importantly, the employee/employer relationship.
Settling disputes that arise from personal injury at work can be protracted and emotionally turbulent. Opting for litigation may create an additional rift between employer and employee that could take years to settle.
